Dreissy Sop Reyes

Equity Data Analyst

Dreissy was born in a small town in Guatemala but has lived in San Francisco since she was 9. She received her Bachelor of Arts in International Relations with a minor in Spanish from SF State in 2023. Her interest in International Relations stems from her desire to learn more about the world and how she can help immigrants like her in the United States and other countries. As part of her graduation requirement, she wrote her thesis: “What Factors Impact the Sex Trafficking of Immigrants from Latin America?” in which she presented her research on how border laws and transnational gang violence in the Guatemalan-Mexican border and the United States-Mexico border pose threats to the safety of immigrants.

After working for 3 years at a podiatry clinic, her interest in public service and local government led her to the Willie L. Brown (WLB) Fellowship, a fellowship program hosted at SF State. She began working at the Office of Racial Equity (ORE) as a WLB fellow in the fall of 2022 before transitioning to an intern at the beginning of 2023, and now she works as a full-time employee with ORE and the Finance team at the Human Rights Commission (HRC). Along with working at HRC, she is also a Willie L. Brown Fellowship mentor! When she’s not working, you can find her hanging out with friends at parks and museums or listening to music while she crochets, embroiders, or knits.
